Paul Hampshire

Managing Director

Paul has 30 years Insurance Industry experience covering most aspects of Personal and Commercial Insurance underwriting.

Paul began his career with Sun Alliance as a professional trainee in 1980 and for ten years worked in both the Insurance Company and Broker market before becoming General Manager of Groupama Accident & Health Division in the 90s based in the City of London and writing an account in excess of £35 million.

In 2001 Paul together with Brian Lambert set up a new Company Ultimate Insurance Solutions which has grown dramatically over the past decade as a Lloyds coverholder, claims handler and call centre operator with over 5 million customers through a number of well known national corporations. With over 60 staff based in their offices in Portsmouth Ultimate Insurance Solutions has now expanded the group to include Ultimate Pet Partners and Ultimate Insurance Company under the Ultimate HC umbrella.

Paul’s underwriting expertise and history of profitable relationships with affinity partners together with drive and energy will play a significant part in the growth and success of Ultimate Insurance Company.

Brian Lambert


Brian began his insurance career in 1978 with MAI PLC progressing to National Sales Manager with AGF Insurance Group by 1994. He then became Operations Director with Rossborough Insurance Services in 1996 and became a Board Member of BDML Connect following a management buyout in 2000.

In October 2001 he acquired and re-launched Ultimate Insurance Solutions with his business partner Paul Hampshire who together have developed the business through product wholesale, underwriting and service provision. Brian has a wealth of experience in the general insurance sector.

David Newman

Non Executive Director

David has over 35 years experience as an insurance/reinsurance transactional specialist with a wealth experience in customer products, as well as the risk financing needs of major corporations. David is a member of both the Board of UIC, and it’s underwriting committee.

He started his career in the City of London where he spent 15 years, and he has spent the last 20 years with Aon in Gibraltar and the Isle of Man where he has held a number of Board positions with various insurers/reinsurers.

Steven Lawler


Steven began his career in 1985 working in the City of London as a trainee underwriter with Royal Sun Alliance. During the next thirteen years Steven held various management positions in the London insurance broking market including Aon Credit and Political Risks, where he was an Assistant Director and seconded to Aon’s head office in Chicago. Twelve years ago Steven left Aon to head up the insurance division of a Japanese financial services company. During this period, Steven set up a self managed reinsurance and direct captive both of which underwrote third party business. In 2010 Steven rejoined Aon as an underwriter for White Rock (Gibraltar) PCC Ltd.

Steven has also held board appointments for UK/Dublin Financial services companies and has experience in technical insurance and corporate governance (policy wordings dispute resolution and advising boards on insurance/risk management matters). He is a Regulatory approved person in Gibraltar, UK and Republic of Ireland. Steven has an Honors degree in Economics and gained a distinction in the Lloyd’s of London Insurance Test. He is AIM Gibraltar’s Compliance Officer.

Dermot Finnerty


Dermot is Managing Director of Aon Insurance Managers in Gibraltar having taken up the position in May 2013. Dermot started his career with Aon in Ireland in 1993. Through the years he was promoted through various positions within the Company with promotion to Director in 2006. During that time he managed a wide portfolio of non-life insurance and reinsurance companies for European, Asia and North American clients in addition to having responsibilities in Finance, Treasury, Systems Integration and Business Development departments as well as various Aon group related projects. Dermot has extensive experience in diversified portfolios of insurance companies, covering various risks in over 90 territories, as well as being a Director on a number of insurance companies.

In 2010, Dermot was appointed as General Manager of Aon Insurance Managers in Malta. Prior to joining Aon Dermot worked with Lifetime Assurance (a subsidiary of the Bank of Ireland).

Dermot is a fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.
